Dental X-ray

Dental X-rays (radiographs) are images of your teeth that our doctors use to evaluate your oral health. These X-rays are used with low levels of radiation to capture images of the interior part of your teeth and gums. This can help our doctors to identify problems such as tooth decay, impacted teeth, bone loss, periapical abscess, cysts, tumours and other pathologies.

With the latest installation of a CBCT machine, we are also able to reconstruct a three-dimensional (3D) image of your teeth and jaws for the most accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common questions about dental X-rays.

Yes, dental X-rays are very safe.

They use a very low level of radiation, and are only taken when necessary.

Modern digital X-rays also minimise exposure further.

X-rays are not needed at every visit.

They are taken based on your condition, such as:

  • Your dental history
  • Current symptoms
  • Ongoing treatment needs

We only recommend X-rays when they are clinically necessary.

Taking a dental X-ray is quick and simple, usually completed within a few minutes.

It is a comfortable process and does not require any special preparation.

  • Periapical X-ray shows a detailed view of a specific tooth and the surrounding bone
  • OPG (panoramic X-ray) shows a full view of your teeth and jaw in one image
  • CBCT (3D scan) provides a more detailed, three-dimensional view for more complex assessment

At Gan & Ding Dental Clinic, we select the most suitable type of X-ray based on your needs to ensure accurate and efficient diagnosis.
